Group Leader Dr. Radu Zabet

Radu Zabet did his PhD in Computer Science at University of Kent working on understanding the physical limits of gene regulatory networks. In 2011, he was awarded an MRC Training Fellowship in Bioinformatics to study the role of the diffusion of transcription factors on gene regulation in Department of Genetics, University of Cambridge. In September 2015, Radu started his own group at School of Life Sciences at University of Essex. His lab has relocated to Blizard Institute within the Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry at Queen Mary University of London in July 2020, where Radu is currently a Reader of AI and Cancer Epigenetics. Radu’s lab is interested to understand how different mechanisms contribute to gene regulation and, in particular, aims to decode the relative role to gene regulation of epigenetics (DNA methylation and histone modifications), 3D genome organisation and transcription factors. His lab is highly interdisciplinary and combine computational biology, machine learning, AI, genomics and molecular biology.
