Éva Kondorosi

Éva Kondorosi is a Hungarian molecular biologist internationally recognized for her pioneering research on Rhizobium–legume symbiosis and biological nitrogen fixation. Her work has significantly advanced understanding of plant organ development, cell differentiation, gene regulation, and interkingdom molecular communication between plants and bacteria, with particular emphasis in recent years on plant-controlled bacterial differentiation.

She has received numerous prestigious scientific honors, including the Balzan Prize, and is an elected member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, the USA National Academy of Sciences, the Academia Europaea, the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina, the French Academy of Agriculture, the European Academy of Microbiology, and the European Molecular Biology Organization.

She currently serves as Chair of Class C (Life Sciences) and Vice President of the Academia Europaea, and is a research professor at the HUN-REN Biological Research Centre in Szeged, Hungary.
